Lesson 6: History Through Art

A lot of people think Canadian history isn’t very interesting. The painting in today’s lesson was painted by an eye-witness, so we can consider it fairly accurate. When we examine the artwork carefully, we see how different the culture and life was for people back in time, which makes it exotic and exquisite and interesting to learn about.

It’s sad that history is being picked to the bone recently by political correctness when instead we could discover the true beauty and apparent hardship of people who lived primitively compared to today’s comforts.

Lesson 6 examines early Indigenous life and examines Indigenous living conditions before the Europeans came. Life was very difficult. Let’s examine these ideas by looking at this painting with Mr. McMurtry.
